Mother of the bride.

Few moments in life match the poignancy and joy of a mother on her daughter’s wedding day.   Last weekend, Ruth married Olivier.   Before the ceremony, my colleague Maria captured these tender moments between Ruth and her mother,.  Bride and groom are from the Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), where French is the most common language.   Maria said, “This was a moment  when I was glad that I don’t know French, because whatever Ruth and her mother said to each other made everyone in the room cry.”

The entire wedding was in French, with a translator providing the English equivalent.   More wedding photos can be seen on Maria’s website “Lone Star Lens”  (www.lonestarlens.com)
