Cynthia and Tammy (and Mini Pearl).

Next time you happen to pass through Lone Camp, Texas, be sure to stop at the Depot, a small general store and grill.  Order up one of their hamburgers– they make the best homestyle hamburger I have had in a month of Sundays.   I wanted to try their homemade coconut pie, but I was too full.   I can always go back…

The Depot is owned by Mr. Norman Marsden.  His daughter Cynthia lives next door with her Chihuahua named Mini Pearl.  Cynthia explained, “We were thinking of beer, and Pearl Beer came to mind.  This little dog is white as a pearl when she’s not rolling in the dirt, and tiny as she is, we thought Mini Pearl.”   (Not to mention, a tribute to the great country comedienne Minnie Pearl!)   Cynthia and her friend Tammy were having a yard sale when I stopped to visit.  I bought a multi-pocketed laptop computer satchel for fifty cents.

Lone Camp is on Farm Road 4 in Palo Pinto county.  Last time anyone counted, there were 110 folks in Lone Camp.
