Like the television game show Wheel of Fortune, letters are slowly appearing on the Dallas Cowboys Football Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Soon, the sign will read SUPER BOWL XLV (45, for those of us in the United States who cannot read Roman numerals, and, sadly, that would be many of us… I’m just saying….)
For our visitors worldwide: the first Super Bowl was played in 1967. The game is always played on Sunday, and pits the American Football Conference (AFC) champion against the National Football Conference (NFC) champion. The Super Bowl winner is the Number 1 football team in the United States. Super Bowl XLV will be played on Sunday, February 6, 2011.
The new Dallas Cowboys Stadium opened on May 27, 2009, and seats almost 80,000 people. True, many folks in Dallas and Fort Worth are avid football fans, but not all of us are thrilled by the new stadium. Many of us who crawl through game day traffic just to get to WalMart rue the day the NFL came to town. Even so, it is just a game, just occasional entertainment, so let folks be happy.
