In North Texas, very early this morning, about 1:00, thunder boomed, wind blew, sleet fell, and thus began our first ice storm of the year.  Highways are passable, if you drive slow, but sidestreets are mighty slick.  Businesses, schools and government offices closed.  At 12:45 p.m., local time, the temp in Fort Worth, Texas, is 19 F (-7 C).  I am staying home and warm.  The map below is from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (U.S. Department of Commerce).
