All over North Texas, schools, businesses and government offices were closed today due to “inclement weather”. This morning, we woke to find 5+ inches of snow on the ground. There was a winter storm warning for parts of North Texas, and at 10 a.m., light snow was still falling in Fort Worth. The temp was 21 F (6 C). By afternoon, the snow stopped and the sun came out. Tomorrow should be sunny and much warmer. We hope.
I really had no business driving the streets today, but I did anyway. I saw at least a dozen vehicles along the road in various degrees of dysfunction due to weather. Police cars, EMS vehicles and firetrucks were racing hither and yon to keep up with traffic mishaps.
Granted I was foolish to drive around (I skidded a time or two, got lucky and stayed intact), but along Northwest Highway in Dallas, I saw a sight that made me smile. Jose and Leticia Hernandez, and their family, spent a couple of hours building a snowman on the sidewalk outside their residence. I knew I would be remiss if I let this week pass without a snowman photo. I stopped to meet this family, and they proudly posed next to their creation.
