In the United States, today is Mother’s Day, set aside to honor our mothers. I took my mother, Peggy Holmes, to lunch at an Italian restaurant in Fort Worth, Texas. Mother was not feeling too good today– allergies are bothering her– and she was rather subdued, due to allergy meds. Even so, we had a nice time at lunch and then driving around observing wildflowers and trees. My mother, 87 years old, is of that generation which grew up on farms and still knows something of the land, its plants, crops and trees. It is a shame that my generation, on average, knows very little about such things.
How do you honor mothers (or parents, in general) in your part of the world?
