Kammi and I went to a Chihuly night concert at the Dallas Arboretum on July 3. The concert featured a military band giving rousing renditions of patriotic standards, but we were disappointed that there were no fireworks. Fact is, we are having another hot, dry, fire-hazard summer– not as hot as last summer, but hot enough– and many cities curtailed or cancelled fireworks. The night was not without bursts of light and color. The Dallas Arboretum is hosting an exhibit of Chihuly sculptures– colorful, wild, surreal glassworks throughout the Arboretum. Day or night, the sculptures will catch your eye, but nighttime is the best time for viewing.
