Monday evening I drove over to White Rock Lake in Dallas for the annual otsukimi (moon watching ceremony) hosted by the Japanese American Society of Dallas/Fort Worth.  They had music played on traditional Japanese bamboo flutes (shakuhachi), traditional Japanese dances, Japanese folk tales, haiku and, raison d’etre, moon viewing through telescopes– there was a full moon tonight.   I have to confess that I just don’t get haiku.  Oh, I know that there are reasons to appreciate the form, but I still don’t get it…

I took my camera and tripod, and captured a few photos in low light.  I used a 35 mm lens on my Nikon D700.

Please let us know what you think about what we see.
