Kammi and I drove to Ennis, Texas, this evening for their annual Bluebonnet Trail. This is a “driving trail”, i.e., it’s much too far to walk. The countryside was rich with greenery and splendid vistas, but bluebonnets were sparse. It took a while, as we passed by miles of fields barren of bluebonnets, but we finally found one modestly arrayed. The floral display was less like “Solomon in all his glory” and more like “the meek shall inherit the earth”.
